چکیده

Aim: It was aimed to evaluate the prognostic role of primary tumor metabolic-volumetric parameters 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in resectable tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC).Material and Method: The imaging findings 44 TSCC patients (23 females, 21 males, mean age: 58±12 years) with tumors who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT for staging before surgery between 2010-2021 were evaluated retrospectively. Maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), total lesion glycolysis (TLG), metabolic volume (MTV) acquired from PET/CT. Histopathological risk factors (pathological nodal stage, perineural lymphovascular invasion, depth surgical margin positivity) obtained resection material also recorded. values histopathological assessed by Cox proportional hazards regression models. Survival curves estimated using Kaplan-Meier analysis. Results: median follow-up period after diagnosis 24 months (range: 2-152 months). univariate multivariate analyses demonstrated that MTV only parameter which significantly related prognosis PFS OS. higher (> 3.13 cm3) had lower OS rates compared those (≤ (p<0.001, p=0.002, respectively). Conclusion: Primary is an independent factor TSCC. PET volumetric features can be used as biomarker predict poor prognosis.

Prognostic value of volumetric metabolic parameters measured by [18F]Fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography in patients with small cell lung cancer

BACKGROUND We evaluated the prognostic value of volume-based metabolic positron emission tomography (PET) parameters in patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC) compared with other factors. METHODS The subjects were 202 patients with pathologically proven SCLC who underwent pretreatment 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET/computed tomography (CT). Volumetric metabolic parameters of intrathora...

Fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography imaging of squamous cell carcinoma arising in a meningomyelocele.

The patient was a 26-years-old female with a history of lumbosacral meningomyelocele with paraplegia. She was admitted to the hospital due to the lumbosacral wound having become infecting and producing a discharge for 6-months. The patient underwent excisional biopsy of the lumbosacral region. The pathological diagnosis was consistent with metastatic moderately-differentiated squamous cell carc...

Diagnostic Accuracy of Positron Emission Mammography with 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose in Breast Cancer Tumor of Less than 20 mm in Size

Objective(s): To investigate the diagnostic accuracy of positron emission mammography (PEM) and positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for small breast tumors of less than 20 mm in size. Methods: The study was conducted on a total of 100 subjects (i.e., 50 patients with pathologically proven breast cancer and 50 normal cases of medical screening). The total number of tumors wa...

Update on 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose/positron emission tomography and positron emission tomography/computed tomography imaging of squamous head and neck cancers.

This article summarizes the recent literature in (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose/positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) imaging of head and neck cancers and extends the previous review in this area by Schöder and Yeung in the July 2004 issue of Seminars in Nuclear Medicine. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET-CT) imaging is now used widely but has not been adequately evaluated for he...

Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography Imaging of a Patient with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Prostate

Primary squamous cell carcinoma is an uncommon tumor of the prostate gland. We report a 77-year-old male patient with urinary frequency and constipation. Fine needle biopsy from prostate was suspicious of squamous cell carcinoma of the prostate. Whole body positron emission tomography/computed tomography scan revealed high fluorodeoxyglucose uptake in prostate gland. Transurethral resection con...
